Hovey Pond Park is located in the Town of Queensbury on Lafayette St (behind the saturn dealership
on Quaker rd)
The Hovey Pond Gardens were conceived by Robert Eddy, first chariman
of the Town of Queensbury Beautification Committee. They are modeled after British Gardens that Mr. Eddy visited and used
as a basis for design. Mr. Eddy at age 96 decided that 2006 would
be his last season working at the garden. Mr Eddy passed away in April 2007. All
of us who volunteer at the garden will continue to work hard to make the garden an enjoyable place to visit.
We have done extensive renovations of the garden this season including
adding and changing paths to make the garden more 'user friendly'. We have also added planters (2 granite ones that
were favorites of Mr Eddy) and lots of new plant materials including small trees and shrubs to encourage birds. We hope
to begin installing birdhouses soon.
Friends of Hovey Pond is the
not for profit organization that is responsible for the Gardens. We receive no public funding. The Gardens are maintained
entirely by volunteers . We meet each Wednesday from April (weather
permitting) until October, from about 9:00 am- 2:00 pm.
If you are interested in joining us please stop by any wednesday that you have time to help. Whether you
join us for a half hour or for the day, we would greatly appreciate your help!
If
you would like to make a monetary donation to help us purchase plants, tools or equipment we would be very grateful-The mailing
address appears at the bottom of the page
